Nina Garcia Must Have #97: Wide-Leg Trousers

Hey ladies!
It's time for another Must-Have according to Nina Garcia's book The One Hundred. This week we focus on the wide-leg trouser, a piece that Nina tells us originated with Katharine Hepburn in 1938 when she wore them while filming the movie Bringing Up Baby. Here are just a few rules to keep in mind when outfitting yourself with a pair:

1. Wear a fitted top; wearing anything but will create bulk that none of us can afford.

2. Be careful when choosing the appropriate length. Too long looks sloppy and too short just doesn't work.

3. Avoid pleats if possible; again, this adds bulk in the belly and I don't think any of us want that!

Here I am flaunting a pair of blue and white striped cuffed trousers that I found at Salvation Army for....
you will not believe this...
49 cents!

This happens to be an item that I have been able to find upon many occasions at our local thrift stores, which makes it even more of a must-have, in my book.
