Flashback to the '80s: DIY Concert T's

You will find that I am an '80s kid at heart so I love all things '80s and will go back any chance I get with my wardrobe. One of the trends from that decade that I cannot seem to shake is the rocker shirts that we used to cut up into our own masterpieces. You can accomplish this look by cutting the shirts you already own that have possibly become nighties or you can use some of the advice I gave in an earlier post and buy them at Goodwill or Salvation Army. I recently found a Pearl Jam shirt and a My Chemical Romance shirt for $.99 and $1.99 resepectively.

Below you will find a 30 Seconds to Mars shirt that had been lying in the bottom of my drawer since it shrank enough to fit my 8-year-old daughter when I dried it the first time I washed it. Just a couple of cuts around the neck and off of the sleeves and I have the ultimate rocker shirt to take me back to my youth!

Apricot Lane in Peoria (by the way, I absolutely love this locally owned gem of a store) has their take on this trend for $52.00 each so you can do the math to know just how much you save by doing it yourself.

Just cut the neck out and shave a bit off of the sleeves and you have a one-of-a-kind rocker T. Make sure you wear it hanging off of one shoulder (or both) in order to complete the look so that it doesn't look like a total accident!
