FabFitFun and Box of Style Fall 2017 Product Reviews, Part 1

Throughout the next few days and weeks, I will be using and reviewing the products that I received in both my FabFitFun and my Rachel Zoe Box of Style Fall 2017 boxes.

I was so excited to try everything that between last night and this morning I used one of the packets of the Skinesque Brightening 3-Step System, Molr C+C Whitening Factory Teeth Whitening Powder, Living Proof TBD Multi-Tasking Hair Styler, and Nudestix Gel Colour Lip + Cheek Balm. Needless to say, I took much pleasure in pampering myself since these boxes arrived at my doorstep yesterday and I cannot wait to do some more!

So here's the skinny:

I am absolutely in love after only one use of the Skinesque Brightening System! Step 1 is a Gentle Foaming Cleanser that smells amazing and instantly made my skin feel so soft and smooth that I almost hesitated to move to step 2.

As much as I didn't want to stop admiring my soft, clean skin, I moved onto the Hydra Essence Toner and let it sit on my skin while I finished getting myself ready for bed. It differs from other toners that I have used in that the consistency is gel-like so it took about 10 minutes for me to feel I was ready to move to the third step, the Brightening Charcoal Black Mask.

The mask is a sheet so there is no mess and it feels nice and cool on your skin. I allowed it to work its magic for about 20 minutes, peeled it off, and gently pat the excess into my skin. Because I opted for this system last night before bed, I replaced my usual nightly skin care regimen just for this one night. The instructions explain that it is best to use the 3-Step System twice to three times per week so I will continue to use as instructed.

My skin immediately showed improved texture and more even tone and what amazed me even more than that is how it looked this morning, straight out of bed. I almost neglected applying my foundation, it looks that good!

I will be purchasing the Skinesque Brightening System for future use and lucky me, I have a discount code to use through Rachel Zoe's Box of Style for members only. Just one more amazing perk for members and another awesome reason for anyone who has yet to create an account to get on with it! Totally an A+ product!

Next I gave the teeth whitening powder a try, made by Molr. Okay, this stuff is kind of messy...maybe a lot messy but I'm feeling like it's worth the cleanup! It's a black powder that came with its own toothbrush so that you don't have to totally wreck your daily brush. All you do is get the toothbrush wet, dip it into the powder and scrub your teeth as if you were using your regular toothpaste, for about 2 minutes, give or take.
Friends, this stuff gets everywhere so I am warning you, make appropriate preparations. Once I finished brushing, I rinsed my mouth over and over again and still felt like I needed to brush using my usual paste just to get all of the black out of my mouth. I noticed a difference in the brightness of my teeth right away so I gave it a go again this morning in the same manner and so far my general opinion is that it may be a keeper but the jury is still out. I will update you as I continue to use it.

This morning I decided to use the Living Proof Multi-Tasking Styler after washing my hair and I will just say that I don't anticipate buying this product after I've used up what came in my FabFitFun box. I am pretty easy to please when it comes to hair products; I want my hair to look and feel soft and smooth and I hate the way my hair feels when it has too much product in it. I don't use a ton of hair products outside of a good salon-quality shampoo, conditioner, and occasional mask because I appreciate healthy hair instead of over processed and over styled manes. That being said, I felt like my hair was difficult to brush through as I did my usual blowout. It still looks great but just doesn't have that soft feel to it that my hair usual has. I give this product a C+ but that is only based on my own desires from a hair product.

Lastly, I busted out of my usual lip routine this morning in order to use my new Nudestix Gel Coulour + Cheek Balm. The color sent to me in my Box of Style was Pulse and I only used it on my lips; I'm just not much of a cheek color kind of gal.

So if you are anything like me, you probably have oh I don't know, like hundreds of lip products in your makeup kit and only use maybe 3 of them. Right? I am always searching for my go-to lip color. I love my lip stains but they do dry out my lips so I'm forever chasing smooth lips. This product is very neutral and complimentary to my skin coloring, and it actually makes my lips feel conditioned and moisturized. It's not sticky like glosses can be, not drying like stains can be, and is smoother than many of the sticks that I have used.

Bottom line: I will with 100% certainty purchase this product using my discount code that Rachel Zoe graciously provided. A+ product!

So folks, here I am this morning at work feeling as beautiful as I possibly can feel after a night of pampering and a morning of adding a new hair and makeup routine. (Not to mention a new haircolor and trim that my lovely hair stylist Sheila blessed me with yesterday morning.) My skin feels amazing and looks as though it glows (thanks to Skinesque), my lips feel soft and look great (thanks to Nudestix) and I am just chomping at the bit to give my other products a try in the next few days and weeks.

My Review of Rachel Zoe's Box of Style

Thanks to my ever-stylish friend, Brandy, I was recently introduced to Rachel Zoe's Box of Style. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for monthly subscription boxes and have tried nearly every one of them that is worth trying but only a couple have stuck. This particular box, my friends, is most definitely one of those that will stick for quite some time!

At $99 per seasonal box, Rachel and her team have hit a home run! She has carefully chosen each product with such deliberate detail that I cannot imagine a better combination. Take a look at my videos and see for yourself!

If you are as impressed with the contents of this box as I am, click on the following link and receive $10 off your first order.

You're welcome!

My Review of FabFitFun's Fall Box

I recently decided to pull the trigger on this season's FabFitFun box and wanted to share that experience with all who have yet to order for the first time. My overall opinion is that it is absolutely worth the money, in fact I feel it is a crazy steal! Check out my videos to see what is inside the Fall 2017 box!

You can either choose to pay for each season separately ($49.99 4 times per year) or to pay $179.99 annually, which is what I chose to do.

New Highly Anticipated Target Collab: PHILLIP LIM!

By now most of us have had the chance to score some yummy pieces with a great designer name on the tag for a knock out price thanks to past Target collaborations such as Kate Young, Prabal Gurung, Missoni and Isaac Mizrahi. We will have a chance to add another designer to our wardrobe on September 15 when the much anticipated Phillip Lim line will reach Target stores and Target.com. Prices range from $19.99 to $79.99 for most pieces (excluding leather jackets and trench coat, which are priced from $249.99 to $299.99) so my advice is to eat them all up straight away!

The 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target lookbook features looks for morning, noon and night and boasts 49 pieces for both women and men. Although you will find 24 different looks in his book, there are endless options and I dare say a little bit of something for everyone! This line is fairly basic in color (mostly black, navy and gray) but he's thrown in a fun floral shirt dress and blouse as well as a funky cheetah print piece here and there.

Look 6
Dress with Faux Leather $49.99

Look 9
Shirt Dress in Paper Floral Print $39.99
Tote Bag $54.99

With Fall lingering about right around the corner, this collaboration could not have come at a better time! Whether you need to add a classic pant and jacket to your daytime wardrobe or a fun bag to accompany you on your commute from work to play, this line has something for you!

Refer to my blog post from Saturday, February 4, 2012 called "I Did It!" for advice on how to score your faves online before anyone else! Early bird definitely gets the worm...good luck and happy shopping!

Shop with Purpose on August 28!

So this is probably the coolest way to shop that I have ever had the pleasure of encountering! Then place your name on the reservation list. All you will need to plug in is your full name and email address in order to RSVP.

Next, you wait until August 28 when the shop opens and browse through the InStyle boutique where you will find gently used designer clothing, shoes and accessories that have been donated by InStyle editors!

Finally, feel great about yourself because you will soon be rocking fantastic designer finds at a fraction of their original price tag and the best part is that the proceeds from your hard-earned moolah spent will benefit the charity Girls Inc. How cool is that?

I did it!

Yay! It's 1:30 am on February 5, launch day of the Jason Wu collection at Target and I got everything I wanted (and then some, woops!)

I learned a valuable lesson for future Target/Designer collaborations...

1. Like Target Style on Facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/TargetStyle#!/TargetStyle

2. Follow Target Style on Twitter.
https://twitter.com/#!/TargetStyle

3. Sometime before launch day, create your account on Target.com.
http://www.target.com

4. Beginning at midnight on the morning of the launch, open in Google Chrome three tabs: Target Style's Facebook page, Twitter page and the Target website (make sure you sign into the website).

5. Twitter and Facebook were instrumental in posting the links to each piece as it became available online so each time a new one popped up, I clicked on it to see if it was what I wanted.

6. As soon as you place a piece in your cart, check out immediately! If you do not, it will likely disappear. This happened to me twice and I lost out on a skirt and a dress that I really wanted but since I gained a couple of pieces I did not plan to purchase, it was totally fine.

Helpful hint: If you have a Target Red Card, you automatically get free shipping but if you do not, shipping is free for any purchase totalling $50.00 pre-tax.

I feel successful and can go to bed happy because I am not a morning person and now I get to sleep in while the rest will either be lined up tomorrow in the early morning or will miss out on some great pieces because they didn't make it in time!

Sweet dreams....mine will be filled with visions of dancing Jason Wu dresses and skirts!

Jason Wu in Target Stores Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is February 5 and Jason Wu's line will be both in stores and online at Target. In Peoria, the store opens at 8 a.m. and if I can give any advice, it would be to go early if you are able. I have learned with past releases that there are crazy ladies just waiting for the store to open so that they can buy all they can pile into their red carts only to sell the items on eBay! Not fair and very frustrating when all I want is to pick up a couple of great pieces! Grrrr!

So I'll see you at Target tomorrow morning! No worries, there is a Starbuck's nearby...
