Uniquely Yours Couture...Affordable Crochet Items with a Cause!

You may have noticed as you stroll through crowds on the streets or as you shop any retailer, malls or otherwise, that crocheted pieces are all the rave these days! Whether you are a little one or an oldie like me, crocheted hats, ear warmers, leg warmers and a multitude of other great items blanket the masses. My family has recently been outfitted by a fantastic little shop on Etsy called Uniquely Yours Couture and by following this link, you will see why we are such huge fans!

The mastermind behind Uniquely Yours, Tammy Spencer, is a mother of three, small business owner and my sister-in-law. She is also the wife of an incredible man who happens to have brain cancer so she selflessly donates 10% of all her sales to Brain Tumor Research at Cedars Sinai Medical Research Center in Los Angeles.

Since her husband Doug was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was immediately removed, he has been unable to run their decorative concrete business as he has done for more than a decade, so Tammy has been crocheting her little heart out to contribute to doctor's bills. The pieces are truly one-of-a-kind and since it benefits both the Cedars Sinai Center and the Spencer family's medical needs, you just cannot lose by purchasing from her.

You can special order anything and she will produce it. She has talent like no other, can replicate any character you could possilby dream up and if she has never heard of it, she researches it and matches yarn colors with perfection!

Jason Wu's Interview with Ann Curry on Today

As you know, I have been anticipating Jason Wu's new clothing and accessories line that will make its appearance in a Target near you on February 5 and I am here to share with you info that is straight from the horse's mouth.

The 53-piece line will include timeless and affordable pieces that pay homage to Mr. Wu's love for "French New Wave Cinema" and the fashion that it brought to our screens during the 1950s and 60s. He describes the pieces using bold words such as "mischievous," "mean chic," and "nonchallant," and tells his eager audience that the fabrics he uses are very versatile and the styles are flattering to all figures. Yay! Good news for us all, right!

After watching his models show off dresses and separates that can accompany you to any event from work to weekend, I am even more amped up than I was the last time I wrote. The best part of all is that each piece is under $60.00! For instance, the LBD that his model wore on the Today Show this morning was a mere $49.99 and is so functional that you can pull off a plethora of different looks with just this one piece.

Hey ladies...
I just turned on the Today Show to find that Jason Wu will be appearing this morning so if you are able, tune in. With his brand new clothing and accessories line coming to Target next month, I am sure he will be discussing the event.

Jason Wu Collaborates with Target

Target is on a collaboration roll with some of today's hottest designers! We've seen pieces from design geniuses Isaac Mizrahi, Alexander McQueen and Missoni and the newest one is with Jason Wu. Known best by we laypersons for the dresses he has designed for Michelle Obama, Mr. Wu has a knack for feminine prints and bold mod statements. Beginning on February 5, you will find his threads in Target stores and on Target.com ranging in price from $19.99 to $59.99 so even those of us who shop on a budget can score something sweet! This collection will be comprised of clothing and accessories, including hangbags. I learned the hard way when Missoni hit Target that you must arrive early or just scope it out online in order to save yourself much frustration so be sure to put the date on your calendar! Target will carry Jason Wu for a very limited time, as it will all come to a halt on March 6.
